The Covid-19 pandemic has been a tough time socially and I think I speak for most people when I say we are more than ready for life to go back to the way it was before Covid hit. While some restrictions might still be in place here in Baltimore I think there are plenty of places for you and your friends to close out the semester and enjoy a night out. Here are a few of the places I have really enjoyed under the Covid-19 restrictions.
The Elk Room
The first place on this list and the one I might like the most is a bar/speakeasy named the Elk Room. If you are looking for a nice place to get drinks before a date, or even just with some friends look no further. I had not heard of the Elk Room until this year and I think it is a hidden gem of Baltimore bars. The bar opened up in 2018 and was named a top 21 bar in America by Esquire Magazine in 2018. It is a 1920s speakeasy style bar with a dimly lit intimate setting. The drinks and food are fancy so don’t expect a cheap night out here but I highly recommend checking it out but don’t get there late on a weekend night or you’re likely going to find yourself on a 2 hour waiting list to get in.
Ministry of Brewing
Next on my list is Ministry of Brewing on Lombard St just a mile north of Fells Point. I personally had never been to a Brewery until I visited Ministry of Brewing on a Saturday morning and was quite surprised to see the brewery was in a church. It is a very cool place to sit around with a couple friends and have a few drinks before you head over to Fells Point. It was a nice change of pace from the regular bar scene in Baltimore and there is plenty of seating available. I definitely recommend checking it out with some friends.
Barley’s Backyard
A nice outdoor bar I really enjoyed visiting was Barley’s Backyard in Towson. If you go I suggest you get there on the earlier side so you can get a nice table with a built in fireplace on the rooftop patio. I went here with a group of 6 friends which is the maximum per table and we must have been there for 5-6 hours. I also recommend checking Facebook for what specials they’re offering to save a few bucks if you’re on a budget. They typically offer drink deals from 3-7pm and have a power hour 2 for 1 special from 5-6pm!
Crossbar
The last bar on my list that I think is worth checking out is Crossbar in Federal Hill. Crossbar has always been one of my favorite bars to go to even before Covid. The bar is themed as an Oktoberfest style bar and has lots of great beers and long tables to sit at. This is another bar I recommend getting to on the earlier side on the weekend unless you do not mind waiting in line for a little while. I definitely recommended coming here day or night with a handful of friends. If you’re up for a big night of drinking you should check out their 2L boot mugs.
